Halloween Costume Ideas
Today I am going to discuss children’s costume ideas for Halloween. There are many ideas for how kids can dress, and while creativity is great when picking out an original costume., there is also nothing wrong with some good old fashioned stand by’s.
Speaking of old stand by’s, my first costume idea is the bumble bee. I used this costume when I was 2 years old, and I still cherish the pictures to this day. I’ve found this costume is especially good for small children and babies because of its simplicity and lack of props involved. You can buy the costume at stores for pretty cheap, or if you want to do it yourself at home, grab a black and yellow striped shirt or sweater, (Goodwill can be your friend with cheap Halloween costumes) and get some cheap makeup and paint the face to look like a bumble bee. Wings are optional but can really add some pizazz.
My next costume idea is the ghost. This is a great idea if you’re really in a pinch. Did you procrastinate and still don’t have a costume for Halloween and you hear a knock at your door from kids trick-or-treating? Time to think fast, and grab a white sheet and cut holes for the eyes and mouth. Use a black marker to outline facial features if you want to get creative. This is a simple costume, can be made very quickly and easily, and is one of the most classic costumes there is. It is sure to scare anyone your child comes into contact with.
My final costume idea is the pumpkin. Everyone has seen Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin, and with pumpkins being the top symbol for Halloween, this is a timeless costume with infinite variations. You can make it a scary theme and go as a mean jack’o’lantern, or you can be a cute, innocent pumpkin if you like.
All of these costumes are simple, cheap, and easy. Check Goodwill and your local Halloween store for supplies. Happy Haunting!
